Info: During the 1970s ‘calculator boom’ HANIMEX became a household name across Europe and Australia. Unlike competitors who manufactured their own tech, HANIMEX was an Australian import and export firm (founded by HANNES Jack) that mastered the art of rebranding.
They sourced high-quality electronics from Asia, slapped on their logo, and sold them globally at highly competitive prices.
HANIMEX did not own factories for calculators. Instead, they relied on smart partnerships.
They imported pre-made units from Japan and Hong Kong (often built by major tech firms like TOSHIBA
To avoid heavy UK import taxes, they briefly partnered with EMIHUS Microelectronics to assemble certain models locally in Wales.
